As Fitzgerald so eloquently put, "life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall."  I am sucker for all things Autumn (sorry not sorry about the PSL), as it seems to set the world at ease and give us all some new beginnings.  My birthday is this week, school has returned, and everyone is ready to face a new year.  My goal this year is to not just step, but jump, out of my comfort zone-- in everything.  In regards to fashion, try something new, something so "not you."  Don't be afraid to fail, only fear not trying.

Legally Blonde

Yes, I'm blonde.  It actually used to be my natural color before I died it a multitude of different colors, but regardless, I am now a true Californian.  Except I don't have blue eyes.  Tangential!  Anyhoo, I always seem to forget how much I love pink!  I love this dress because it's actually made up of a bunch of little hearts, and then the torso (which actually has wonderful boning structure reminiscent of a corset) is in the shape of a heart.  It's a perfect Valentine's Day dress... but not really warm enough for February.  Pink is a power color, ladies.  It is ultra feminine, and should be worn with pride.  Never shy away from owning your femininity!  Women are strong, powerful creatures who can wear pink and pearls... but still kick just as much ass as Lucy Liu in Kill Bill.

It's been a while, but Spring Break called!  Of course that means (FINALLY) the end of winter clothes!  You never think you'll tire of plaid, burgundy, and knee socks... but somehow you really do.  I forgot how much I missed floral.  God, nothing beats floral.  To kick off spring, I wore a very 1920's structured shift dress, that is slightly pulled in at the waist but drops.  I matched my nude wedges with a very Coachella-esque flower hairband that hangs on the side like a necklace.  It has a very "free love" 70's feel, so it pops a little next to the classic quality of the dress.  Spring forecast?  Floral, floral, and oh, yeah, more floral.

Cold Shoulders

So one thing I never realized about shoulder cut outs... is how cold your shoulders feel!  Who knew those four inches of coverage actually make a difference?  So slap on a color blocked beanie and some boots to keep warm.  It's official, winter is ending (sorry Ned Stark)!  So in these next 20 days my wardrobe will slowly transition to spring.  But for now, wear those turtlenecks and forest green booties as we wait for the bloom of floral skirts, gingham, and patched denim!

You know you're pathetic when 72 degrees feels cold... or that you're becoming a native Californian.  To combat this weak breeze I wore a long-sleeved wrap dress that honestly reminds me of an ice skating costume.  Seriously, I felt like I stepped off the rink only moments before!  For those of you still on the East Coast, you probably could have.  Winter whites are a trend I've noticed this year, and I truly don't follow trends, but I'm enjoying this one.  Why limit yourself to Labor Day when white (or shades of) look great year round?  They look even better with black!  Black and white are always flattering, regardless of the scenario, and engender an air of sophistication and style.
